# A legal AI workspace for immigration firms

Immigration firms use Mike to read client documents, build timelines of travel, status and employment, check evidence against a filing's requirements, and draft declarations and cover letters. Every statement Mike writes links to the page it came from, so an attorney can verify it before a filing goes out.

An immigration case lives or dies on consistency. Dates on a passport, an old application, a pay stub and a client's own account must agree, and the filing must say what the evidence shows. Mike reads those documents side by side and lists the places where they do not match.

Cuanto Labs loads your evidence checklists, cover letters and declaration templates into Mike and connects it to the folders where client files live. Passports, prior applications and personal accounts stay within your firm's own installation.

## What Mike does for your practice

- **Client history timelines.** Mike reads passports, prior applications, notices and the client's own account, and builds a dated timeline of entries, status changes, addresses and employment, with each entry linked to its source page. Conflicting dates are flagged for the attorney before they appear in a filing.
- **Evidence checklists.** Give Mike the filing type and the documents in the file, and it lists what is present, what is missing and what looks out of date, using the checklist your firm maintains. Staff work through one list instead of searching folders.
- **Declaration and affidavit drafts.** Mike drafts a client or witness declaration in your template from interview notes and documents, with a source for each statement. Drafts arrive as Word documents, and revisions come back as tracked changes for the attorney to accept or reject.
- **Cover letters and legal briefs.** Mike drafts the cover letter or the factual section of a brief from the file, citing the exhibits by tab and page, so the package and the narrative stay consistent with each other.
- **Response to requests for evidence.** Upload an agency request or notice and Mike lists each deficiency it describes, finds the documents in the file that answer it, and drafts a response outline for the attorney, with exhibits identified by tab.
- **Country conditions and case law research.** Mike searches case law through CourtListener on standards such as credibility, nexus or hardship, reads the opinions, and checks each case citation against CourtListener. It also reads country reports you load.
- **Bulk document review for employers.** Use Tabular Review to pull names, dates and document types from a batch of records for a corporate client, into one table for the attorney to check against the matter's requirements.

## How we set it up for your firm

- **Filing-type evidence checklists.** We load the evidence checklist your firm keeps for each filing type, so Mike reports what is present, missing or out of date against the right list.
- **Declaration templates.** We load your client and witness declaration templates, with the interview-note layout your team uses.
- **Translation workflow.** We set up how your team handles documents in other languages, including certified translations, so that Mike reads the translation and records which original it belongs to.
- **Exhibit tab convention.** We agree how exhibits are tabbed and named, so cover letters and response outlines cite tab and page the way your filings do.
- **Employer batch review columns.** For corporate clients, we build a Tabular Review template with name, document type, issue date and expiration date for batch record checks.

## Questions attorneys ask

### Can Mike read documents in other languages?

Mike can read many languages, but filings need certified translations, and your attorneys remain responsible for them. We set up your workflow so that Mike reads the translation and records which original document it belongs to. Pages that cannot be read clearly are listed, not guessed at, so a person can look at them.

### Can Mike help respond to a request for evidence?

Upload the notice and Mike lists each deficiency it describes, finds the documents in the file that bear on it, and drafts an outline of the response with exhibits identified by tab. The attorney decides the strategy, which evidence to add and what to argue. Items with nothing in the file are listed as open.

### Will Mike fill in government forms?

Mike works with documents and text and does not submit anything to an agency. It can pull the facts a form asks for from the file into a table, so staff copy them accurately, and it drafts the letters, declarations and briefs that accompany a form. Completing and filing the forms stays with your team.

### Can Mike spot inconsistent dates across a client's documents?

Yes. Mike reads passports, prior applications, notices and the client's own account side by side and lists dates, addresses or employers that conflict, with the page for each. The attorney then asks the client, because Mike cannot tell which document is right. The aim is to catch a conflict before filing.

### Can case managers and paralegals use it?

Yes. Your administrator invites each person and sets who can see which matters. Staff commonly use Mike to build checklists, timelines and first drafts of declarations for an attorney to review. Training for attorneys and staff is part of the setup. Attorneys remain responsible for every filing, and staff drafts are reviewed before anything is sent to a client or an agency.

### How does Mike handle immigration case law?

Mike searches case law through CourtListener, reads the opinions and checks each case citation against CourtListener before it appears. Regulations, policy manuals and agency guidance are not verified by that check. They come from the sources your firm connects during setup, and since rules change, the attorney confirms what applies on the filing date.
