Mike

AI for small law firms that works from your own files

Mike is AI for small law firms built as one shared workspace: attorneys and paralegals ask questions of the firm's own files, search case law, and draft in the firm's templates, and each answer cites the page it came from. Cuanto Labs installs and maintains it, so no one on staff has to.

Attorney: Compare the signed supply agreement to the draft our client approved and list any differences. Then draft a short letter to the vendor.

Mike: The signed agreement differs from the approved draft in two places. Payment terms are net 15 days [1], where the approved draft said net 45 [2], and a new clause lets the vendor suspend deliveries for late payment [3]. The approved draft did not contain that clause. I drafted a letter asking the vendor to confirm which terms apply.

  1. [1] Signed supply agreement, § 3.1, p. 4
  2. [2] Approved draft, § 3.1, p. 4
  3. [3] Signed supply agreement, § 8.2, p. 11

A small firm usually covers several kinds of matters with a few people, and knowledge sits in the heads of whoever handled the last one. Loading the firm's precedents and past work into one workspace means a new associate or paralegal starts from the firm's own examples.

Cuanto Labs connects Mike to your shared folders, loads your forms for each practice area, and trains the team, with one partner or the office manager named as the person who decides who gets an account.

What Mike does for your practice

One workspace for every matter
Each matter is a project in Mike. Attorneys and paralegals ask about its documents, and the answers cite the page. A colleague who picks up the matter next week finds the same files and the same chat history.
The firm's precedents, ready to use
Mike drafts from the engagement letters, pleadings, contracts and memos your firm has already written. New drafts come back in firm style as Word documents, and revisions show as tracked changes for the reviewing attorney.
Paralegal work, accelerated
Paralegals use Mike to build chronologies, summarize records, and index productions. Everything is linked to its source page, so the supervising attorney can check it as quickly as it was made.
Research without a subscription fight
Mike searches published case law and reads the opinions before summarizing them, and we can connect research sources the firm already pays for. Each case it cites is checked against CourtListener before the answer is given.
Tables from document piles
Tabular Review pulls the same fields from a folder of documents, such as leases, agreements or discovery responses, into a sortable table that exports to Excel.
Workflows the whole firm shares
A prompt that works for one attorney, such as a deposition summary or an intake checklist, becomes a saved workflow the whole firm can run. Cuanto Labs helps build the first set.

How we set it up for your firm

Someone else runs it
Most small firms have no IT staff. Cuanto Labs installs, updates and maintains Mike, and answers questions from the team, so an office manager does not have to become a system administrator.
Who decides who gets an account
In a firm of a few people, one partner or the office manager decides who gets an account and which matters each person can open. That includes the part-time paralegal or contract attorney, whose access is closed when the work ends.
Your shared folders, connected
We connect Mike to the drive or document system the firm uses, and agree which folders each person can reach, so access in Mike follows the firm's existing habits.
Templates for each practice area
We load the forms and precedents for every area the firm handles and organize them so attorneys find the right one quickly.
The three or four tasks that eat the most hours
A small firm cannot spend weeks configuring. We pick the tasks that cost the most time, such as intake summaries and demand letters, and build those saved workflows first.
Training for the team
We train attorneys and staff on the firm's own documents, with examples from the work they actually do, and stay available afterward.

Questions attorneys ask

How does a small firm without IT staff manage Mike?

It does not have to. Cuanto Labs installs Mike, connects it to your folders, loads your templates, trains your team and handles updates and maintenance. One person at the firm, usually a partner or office manager, adds and removes users. Day-to-day, attorneys work in a chat window and in Word documents.

Can each attorney see only their own matters?

Access can follow the way your firm already organizes matters. We agree with you which folders and projects each person can reach, and we set that up during installation. If a matter needs a confidentiality wall inside the firm, tell us at the start and we will plan for it.

Does Mike work for a firm with several practice areas?

Yes. Mike is not locked to a single area. We load the templates and forms for each kind of work the firm does, and Mike reads whatever documents a matter contains. The firm can keep separate sets of saved workflows for each practice area, and add to them over time.

What if one partner wants Mike and another does not?

Adoption in a small firm is rarely even. Accounts go to the people who want them first, and the saved workflows and templates they build are available to the rest whenever they are ready. Nothing changes in how a skeptical partner files or drafts, and the first results usually come from the lawyers who volunteer.

Does Mike replace a paralegal or an associate?

No. It handles reading, summarizing, tabulating and first drafts, and the people at the firm review and correct the output. Every statement links to its source page, so the check is fast. Judgment about the matter, advice to the client and filings remain with your attorneys, as they do today. Staff keep their roles and gain a faster first pass.

Can we start with one attorney and add the rest later?

Yes. Many small firms begin with a single attorney and one practice area, learn which workflows pay off, and then add colleagues and further practice areas. Templates and saved workflows built along the way carry forward, so adding a person means giving them an account and showing them what the firm has already built.
